We are celebrating one month of AgriFlourish! Some might think, “Isn’t it too soon to be celebrating?” but we think not. We decided to celebrate ourselves for starting AgriFlourish and pat ourselves on the back, because honestly, starting anything is difficult. Yet here we are, proud of what we’ve managed to achieve in just one month.
September has been a special month for us at AgriFlourish, our very first month as a blog. When we started, we had nothing but a vision: to create a space where agriculture meets sustainability, learning, and community. Just weeks later, we already have so much to reflect on, from building the platform itself, to writing our first articles, to engaging with students and industry professionals at events like the Agri 5 Expo.
This month has shown us that growth doesn’t happen by chance – it happens when you put yourself out there, learn, connect, and share.
Sikhulisile’s Reflection: Building AgriFlourish From Scratch
“I have had the privilege of seeing AgriFlourish come to life from the ground up. From setting up the blog to learning SEO strategies that help us reach more readers, every step has been a learning curve. I’ve come to realize that writing is not just about putting words on a page, it’s about thinking like a reader.
Often, I find myself reminding Lerato and Sibu: “Whatever you’re asking yourself while writing, that’s probably what the reader is also asking.” It’s about clarity, flow, and making sure every voice shines through.
Through researching and writing my own pieces, I’ve grown immensely, both as a communicator and as a learner in sustainable agriculture. It hasn’t always been easy, but it’s been rewarding.”
Lerato’s Reflection: Learning Through Writing and Networking
“Writing my first article for AgriFlourish reminded me that growth in agriculture doesn’t happen by chance. It comes through research, engagement, and connection. This industry becomes far more fulfilling when you actively seek knowledge by attending expos, connecting with people, and contributing your own insights.
You’ll never get far in agriculture if you sit back and wait for a miracle. To move forward, you have to put yourself out there: network, read, share your views, and support others along the way.
Through this process, I’ve realized that our values of growth, learning, and community aren’t just words; they are principles we live out when we actively share, connect, and support one another. Even in just one month, I’ve learned that the journey of contributing is ongoing, and every small step makes a difference.”
Sibulele’s Reflection: Lessons From the First Month
“This first month hasn’t been without its surprises. I’ve learned that:
- Writing consistently matters more than waiting for the perfect post.
- Even small engagement, a comment, a share, or a question, feels like a big win.
- Working as a team makes our content richer, more balanced, and more useful for readers.
Beyond writing, I also had the chance to look at the business side of things like registering a company and exploring trademarks. That process showed me how important it is to think not only about content but also about structure, protection, and long-term sustainability of what we’re building.
Through AgriFlourish, I’ve come to appreciate that building knowledge in agriculture is a collective effort. By sharing and learning together, we move the industry forward.”
What We’ve Achieved This Month
- Attended the Agri 5 Expo and made meaningful connections with industry players.
- Launched our first articles, sparking conversations about sustainable agriculture.
- Received encouraging feedback and engagement from readers.
- Attracted interest from students, many of who have reached out to ask about internship opportunities.
- Received lots of enquiries from people wanting to be part of AgriFlourish by writing and sharing knowledge. We hear you, and we promise we’re working on ways to make this possible.
For now, we are running AgriFlourish voluntarily, and while we’re not yet in a position to offer internships or open contributor spaces, we’re inspired by this interest. It reminds us of the need to grow into a platform that not only shares knowledge but also creates opportunities. That’s a vision we’re holding onto for the future.
Looking Ahead
Our first month has been filled with both challenges and breakthroughs. We’ve learned that every article, every interaction, and every small step counts. Most importantly, we’ve learned that AgriFlourish is more than a blog, it’s a community.
As we move forward, we’re committed to staying curious, sharing generously, and building a platform that empowers students, farmers, and professionals alike.
